Our Story and Creative Mission
Verdant Outpost Games is a game design company founded by me, Eric Serra.
I enjoy designing western and nature-inspired boardgames that tell stories through strategy, innovative mechanics and thematic worlds.
The mission is to create unique experiences that invite players into unexpected adventures, to challenge players to find the best strategy, and most importantly to ensure everyone, me included, have fun in the process.
Who Am I
I'm Eric Serra, I am an Italian Inventor and Designer.
I am a British resident, married to a lovely wife and father of a tiny baby boy.
My Background
I studied Embedded Electronics Engineering in Turin, Italy and Chicago, USA. I worked in the car industry for a few years then moved in the UK almost 10 years ago, where I now work in Dyson as inventor. I get to create and experiment with the latest tech, and the wildest ideas.
Creativity
Whether I’m inventing new appliances, designing board games, or composing music, bringing ideas to life in a tangible way is what drives me.
The process of creating, building, and finally seeing the results of that work is what keeps me motivated and inspired.
My Boardgame Passion
I've been playing boardgames all my life, and as long as I can remember I've enjoyed trying to modify rules, change the games to make them more fun, or just more quirky. After moving to the UK I found a boargame club and my collection grew immensely. At the same time I started also creating games from scratch. Only in the last year or so I've been trying to turn this into a real side job.
My Other Hobbies
I love playing music and learning new instruments. I mostly play guitar and piano and I sing along while playing. I am partial to a Karaoke night.
Boardgame design also got me into 3D printing and designing custom components.
I love nature and have a thriving pond in my garden, which I built from scratch.
